Rediscover Christchurch City Central
Welcome to City Vibe – your guide to what is new and upcoming in our exciting, new central city! A lot has changed since the Canterbury earthquake sequence nine years ago. We have begun to re-build our city with innovative ideas that boast new restaurants, cafés, bars, shopping, arts and cultural hot spots. This can be viewed through the incorporation of new hubs within the central city such as The Terrace, SALT district, The Crossing, Tūranga and the Riverside Market.
As Christchurch Central has begun to re-grow, we have not forgotten our past. Restorations have been made to the much-loved Arts Centre, which has a new lease on life. The same can be said for the Isaac Theatre Royal and Victoria Square, which are further examples of rejuvenation to quintessential city sites.
Our goal for City Vibe is to re-introduce Cantabrians to their city. Our guide works to promote new spaces to discover, and old haunts to re-discover. Christchurch City has become a hub for foodies and coffee drinkers alike. There are multitudes of eateries that offer fine dining to burgers, brunch to gelato! City Vibe will help you uncover these gems.
Interested in shopping? The central city offers an array of New Zealand fashion labels, to international and local favourites as well as boutiques and souvenirs.
There is something for everyone. Families can enjoy spending time at the Margaret Mahy Playground, some lunch at the kid-friendly Little High and quiet time at Tūranga library. Adults can sample cocktails on The Terrace or a wine bar in the Salt District, a coffee on New Regent Street or a fine dining experience at the Art Gallery.
Let City Vibe help you discover what Christchurch Central has to offer you and your loved ones!
